Impact Reporting

Measuring and Demonstrating Your Charity or Community Group’s Impact in Somerset

Every day you see how your work makes a difference. You meet the person who’s more confident, the family that’s coping better, the community that’s coming together. You know your work matters.

But knowing isn’t enough. You need to demonstrate your impact clearly to funders agreeing grants, trustees needing clear information, and decision-makers shaping services across Somerset.

Using the Impact Hub means you don’t have to figure it out alone.

This Hub brings your impact stories and data together in one place, making it easier to demonstrate the collective power of Somerset’s charity and community sector.

Three ways to measure and share your impact:

This space on the Insights Hub has three areas, with one live and two currently in development:

1. Share Impact Reports and Case Studies LIVE NOW

Upload your charity impact reports and anonymised case studies to our Report Library. When we gather these together, funders and decision-makers can’t ignore the difference Somerset’s charities and community groups make.

THE FOLLOWING FEATURES ARE IN DEVELOPMENT AND COMING SOON

2. Showcase Real Community Impact with Stories and Videos COMING SOON

The ‘Somerset Voices’ section will enable us to give the impact story some real faces and voices. Here we’ll be working to gather together pictures, videos and vox pops direct from communities to bring the numbers to life.

3. Report on Impact and explore Social Value Measures

Quantitative: we are exploring with a number of VCFSE groups how they are currently gathering information on the impact of their services, and how we could help them report on this via individual and shared dashboards. We are also considering how the use of some shared measures could enable us to assign a value to the outcomes achieved, using recognised social value ‘proxies’. If you’d like to take part in these pilot discussions, please contact us via the ‘contact us’ button below.

Why impact measurement matters:

Good impact measurement combines human stories with hard evidence. We champion both qualitative research (storytelling experiences and case studies that bring your work to life) and quantitative data (the statistics that prove your worth). Together, they create credible evidence that everyone can trust.

When we share our impact evidence in one place, we can demonstrate the true social value and return on investment across Somerset.

You can help develop these impact measurement tools by contacting us. We love hearing what helps you to demonstrate your charity’s impact more effectively.
