The key objectives of the Insights Hub project are to:

Give VCFSE groups the easiest possible access to the local data they need to support funding bids and service developments
Amplify the combined impact of the sector by gathering it together in one place – helping you get the recognition you deserve for the work you do
Highlight opportunities for strategic partnerships and collaborative working by mapping what we have, and where there are obvious gaps.

I’ve always been impressed by the Local Insight mapping solution — it’s an incredibly powerful tool for the VCFSE sector. Whether it's identifying areas of greatest need, supporting funding applications with robust local evidence, or helping community organisations target their services more effectively, it offers a level of clarity and context that’s hard to match. It turns complex data into actionable insight, and that’s exactly what our sector needs.

Thanks to funding we've secured, we're delighted to make the Local Insight mapping tool available to the VCFSE sector in Somerset. It’s a game-changer for understanding where services are being delivered, where the gaps are, and how organisations can better coordinate their efforts. By mapping local activity against key indicators, we can support more informed decision-making and stronger, data-led collaboration across the county.

We have really enjoyed collaborating with colleagues from across the VCSFE sector to develop a hub that is useful for all. Every organisation has brought expertise, knowledge and skills that have made the Somerset Insights Hub even better than we imagined. We are really excited about what opportunities the Somerset Insights Hub can bring for the VCSFE sector, and what else we can add to it in the future.

Having Local Insight - and the knowledge library - at our fingertips has transformed our approach to data collection and needs analysis. ensuring our grant-funding is truly directed towards areas of need. This has massive potential for the VCSFE sector in Somerset, and we look forward to seeing how it develops.
