Impact And Social Value Dashboard - In Development

Building better social value, impact, and sustainability measures is crucial for demonstrating the VCFSE sector’s value in creating positive change within Somerset communities. Ultimately, robust social value and sustainability measures strengthen the case for investment in community-focused efforts, amplifying the reach and effectiveness of services that benefit society.

Social Value Measure Tool

The Social Value Engine has been chosen as the preferred tool for measuring and understanding the impact of the VCFSE sector across Somerset.

The Insights Hub now integrates the Social Value Engine (SVE) – an accredited social value measurement tool designed specifically for the VCSE sector.

SVE goes beyond outputs to capture the real difference community-led activities make to people’s lives. By combining evidence-based financial proxies with local qualitative data, the tool translates outcomes such as improved wellbeing, stronger communities, or reduced pressure on public services into clear, credible measures of social value.

For Somerset VCFSE organisations, this means being able to:

  • Demonstrate impact in ways that funders, commissioners, and partners recognise.

  • Showcase value for money by evidencing how every pound invested delivers wider benefits.

  • Build confidence and influence when engaging with the public sector and investors.

For public bodies and funders, it provides a trusted and transparent framework to understand the return on investment of community initiatives, supporting smarter commissioning and more sustainable partnerships.

Through the Hub, Somerset organisations can access SVE to evidence the difference their work is making, strengthen their case for support, and contribute to a shared picture of community impact across the county.
