Submit a research opportunity

Somerset Research Charter
Before submitting a research opportunity to the Somerset Insights Hub, we ask all research leads to review the Somerset Research Charter.

The Somerset Research Charter is a shared commitment to improving how research is designed, delivered and experienced by people and communities across Somerset.

It recognises that:

- Communities are not just participants, but partners
- Research should deliver meaningful benefit, not just collect data
- Practical barriers can affect who is able to take part
- Trust is built through transparency, respect and feedback

The Charter helps ensure that research promoted through the Hub reflects these values.
What we expect from research leads

By submitting a research opportunity through the Somerset Insights Hub, you are confirming that you have considered how your research aligns with the Charter’s principles, including:

Research should aim to generate insight, learning or outcomes that are relevant and useful to people, services or communities in Somerset.

Opportunities should be designed so that people can realistically take part, taking account of:

- geography and travel

- timing and availability

- digital access and confidence

- language, accessibility and support needs

Research should be conducted responsibly, with appropriate ethical consideration, safeguarding, and informed consent.

Participants should feel listened to, valued and respected throughout their involvement.

Researchers should be clear about how findings will be shared with participants, communities or the wider system, using accessible and appropriate formats wherever possible.

We would greatly appreciate your sharing your final reports/findings on the Insights Hub Knowledge Library.

We recognise that not all research opportunities will be fully formed at the point of submission.

If aspects of alignment with the Somerset Research Charter are still in progress, you can still submit your opportunity. You will be asked in the form to explain:

- how you are working towards alignment, or

- what support or clarification may be needed

Submissions are reviewed before publication, and we may contact you if further information is required.
Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast
